SCADA - Remote Automation Solutions


SCADA Control Systems - E&C Africa
E&C works with Emerson Process Management's Remote Automation solutions division to provide Integrated SCADA solutions for remote monitoring and control. E&C integrates Emerson RTU's (Fisher ROC /Controlwave-Bristol) and serial or Ethernet radios with power systems based on solar and wind generators. The systems are installed on wellhead/satellite platforms which are unmanned or land based remote flow stations.

Emerson's current suite of Smart Remote Automation products is an extension of the Plantweb digital architecture to cover remote sites.


Remote Automation - E&C Africa
    The key components are

  • A SCADA or DCS capable of polling realtime and historical data over the communications link.
  • AMS (Asset Management Software) Suite provides configuration features and the interface for the advanced diagnostics used with HART instrumentation.
  • ROC Polling Service resides in the AMS Device Manager and provides the interface between AMS Suite and the ROC800.
  • ROC Field Server used where a low bandwidth field communications network interfaces to a high bandwidth Ethernet control network.
  • The ROC800 Remote Operations Controller is located at the remote site and passes AMS data between smart instrumentation and the AMS software.
  • Smart instrumentation is any digital instrument connected to the ROC800 that uses HART protocol and is capable of communicating health information in addition to the process variable.
